valid email address marked as invalid

Today we got an error because the email address of an applicant was marked as invalid. I checked it and several RFC checker online marked it as valid. There also seems to be an existing MX entry.

It had the following format: [email protected]

It was refused because of the underscore before the at symbol.

Any chance the email verification can be updated to deal with this kind of address?
